This article reviews and synthesizes theoretical and empirical studies on the management of micro enterprises in developing economies over the past two decades. Drawing on multiple theoretical frameworks—including the Resource-Based View, dynamic capabilities, institutional theory, and social capital theory—this review maps the evolution of concepts used to explain how micro enterprises operate and survive in resource-limited and informal contexts. The methodology involves a structured qualitative review of peer-reviewed journal articles from major academic databases, focusing on thematic patterns across managerial practices, entrepreneurial behavior, innovation, gender dynamics, and financial access. The findings reveal fragmented research streams dominated by context-specific case studies, limited theorization, and methodological weaknesses that constrain the generalizability of insights across diverse developing regions. This article identifies four major research gaps related to theoretical integration, contextual diversity, digital transformation, and methodological rigor. A future research agenda is proposed to guide scholars toward more holistic, interdisciplinary, and context-sensitive investigations. By integrating insights across diverse studies, this review contributes a comprehensive understanding of micro enterprise management and provides a foundation for advancing knowledge and informing policy interventions in developing economies.
2025-10-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JUSTBEST Journal of Sustainable Business and Management https://globalresearcher.net/index.php/justbest/article/view/177 Artificial Intelligence Adoption, Competitive Pressure, and Their Influence on Business Sustainability: Empirical Evidence from Firms in Emerging Markets 2025-07-19T00:00:00+00:00 Aisha Zuraina zuraina@uitm.edu.my
The increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and intensifying competitive pressure have reshaped business environments, particularly in emerging markets characterized by uncertainty and resource constraints. However, empirical evidence on the combined effects of AI adoption and competitive pressure on business sustainability remains limited. This study examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence Adoption and Competitive Pressure on Business Sustainability among firms operating in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A quantitative approach was employed using survey data collected from 137 firms, which were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that Artificial Intelligence Adoption has a positive and significant effect on Business Sustainability (? = 0.451, p < 0.001). Competitive Pressure also demonstrates a positive and significant influence on Business Sustainability (? = 0.331, p < 0.001). The regression model explains 53.6% of the variance in Business Sustainability, indicating strong explanatory power. These findings suggest that firms adopting AI technologies and effectively responding to competitive pressure are better positioned to achieve sustainable business outcomes. This study provides empirical evidence from an emerging market context and offers valuable insights for managers and policymakers in the digital transformation era.
2025-10-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JUSTBEST Journal of Sustainable Business and Management https://globalresearcher.net/index.php/justbest/article/view/178 Literature Review: The Role of Women Entrepreneurs in the Digital Era 2025-07-19T00:00:00+00:00 D A Gladysia Sistadanta Kurnia Dewi Sutedja gladysia@primakara.ac.id
Women are expected to have the same opportunities to develop as men, in reality, various forms of discrimination are still encountered.
